My first purchase of handy cookware is the Cuisinart 12” nonstick deep fry skillet with a glass lid. I love it, but the only disadvantage is its size. It’s huge. If you’ve got small weak arms, prepare for a workout with this baby. I bought this pan from Bed, Bath & Beyond for $40 a great buy.

Advantages: Big enough to cook for a large group if you have to; nonstick makes it easy to clean afterward; and the glass lid is great for cooking fast and being able to make sure you don’t burn anything, too.
